The Canadian Association of Medical Teams Abroad (CAMTA) travels to Ecuador annually to provide orthopaedic care for those in need. Each year the group performs ~70 procedures. CAMTA provides hope to Ecuadorians who desperately need that care but cannot afford it.
CAMTA was very near to Mas, both professionally and personally. Mas joined the mission for five years and quickly became a team favourite to many. Professionally, Mas was an incredibly hard working, team oriented, and compassionate doctor. As a person, his good natured kindness and humble demeanour put all around him at ease, and created countless lasting friendships. Mas cared so much about those around him and about the success of CAMTA, and there was a never a task he wouldn’t support in order to contribute to positive outcomes in Quito.
Mas was always the first to grab the bill and treat all those around him. In continuing that tradition, the foundation purchased dinner for the team during their annual celebration dinner, where ~100 people gathered to toast another successful year of providing care in Ecuador.
